It’s not been a good month for Sony. Layoffs, poor holiday sales for the PS3 and a wee bit of hacking over at PlayStation Home surely have the electronics giant hungry for some good press, which has made the newest PR kerfuffle over at the nascent online service quite unfortunate. According to Ars Technica, Home has become something akin to the nightmare futurescape of The Warriors, a service “incredibly unwelcoming to women, with female players quickly mobbed as players dance around them or type sexual come-ons… a disturbing look at …

Demon’s Souls was a surprise PS3 game revealed at Tokyo Game Show. From Software, the makers of the Armored Core series is working on this brand new action game. This trailer is three minutes long, and gives us a good idea for the game’s mood. However, we want to see more gameplay footage. We’re not getting too hyped over this game, so we’d like to see more footage.
[Thanks, Christian H.!]
Three minutes of Demon’s Souls originally appeared on PS3 Fanboy on Mon, 29 Dec 2008 23:34:00 EST. …

LG plans to take the thinnest LCD TV crown at CES 2009 with the LH95, which supports 240Hz and a 2 million to 1 contrast ratio.
So if you want THE thinnest LCD at this point in time, this is it. Until, of course, the next thinnest LCD TV comes out some time in 2009, and then you’ll be stuck with the second thinnest, then third thinnest, until one day you’re left with little miss fatty and you’re asking yourself why you spent so much money on such a heifer. …

Cisco doesn’t want to just cater to your IT guy anymore—they’re jumping into the consumer space at CES with three new streamy products: a video streamer, a streaming audio system, and Telepresence, a videoconferencing system.
The first two—a video streamer that “more easily” gets Internet video on your TV, like million other boxes out there, and a streaming “digital stereo system”—sound pretty mundane, and whether or not they’re worth a look will rely entirely on their execution of what are now dated concepts.
The last, however, the Telepresence videoconferencing system, actually sounds …

So yeah, finding an Xbox 360 Jasper in Arcade form isn’t all that difficult these days, but we certainly haven’t seen a glut of Pro models shipping out with the supposedly cooler, smoother and altogether more melancholy Jasper hardware within. A lucky soul over at PDAToday has acquired one such unit, and while he may just be incredibly fortunate, we’d say it’s about time you to-be Pro owners start looking out for a few telltale signs. As you can see in the closeups in the read link, there here FDOU …

I love my parents. My father is tech savvy, my mom isn’t, but both are equally bedazzled by technology and their reaction to certain gadgets is funny. Some parents, however, are not so impressed.
Like Giz reader Brian, who had this sweet post-xmas story to tell us about his dad:
I went back to MI to my parent’s place this year for Christmas. My dad’s gift this year was a new 10 mega pixel digital camera with all the bells and whistles.
While helping him figure out his new gadget I thought it …

2008 will probably be the last year we’ll see anything remarkable happen on the PS2 ever again. As the year concludes, we’re taking these last few days to look back and reflect upon the titles that have come out for this veteran console — a system which has outlived its contemporaries long after they’ve retired. While 2007 was easily the “Year of the J-RPG,” 2008, however, is a bit more difficult to define.
As 2008 marked PS3’s second full year out on the market, the PS2 was unfortunately …

If your Wiimote-gun hybrid lacks a tiny bit of that “I would shut down an airport having this in my carry-on luggage” panache, we advocate you check out WeeP5, a toy MP5 chock-full of motion control. To be honest, we’re most enamored by the setup of the above picture, as the modded armament rests lovingly over the heads of a young couple, against a picture of men in togas, and just under a VHS copy of The Lost World in German — it’s just so beautiful. In case you’re wondering: …

Don’t you wish your favorite Blu-ray movie could work at grandma’s place? But drats, for some reason she just doesn’t have a Blu-ray player. Thankfully, you own a hybrid DVD/Blu-ray disc, so you’ll be able to watch your Blu-ray motion picture on a standard DVD player. It won’t be in HD, but SD movie better than no motion picture, right?
This tech isn’t far off. In fact, it’s available now. Infinity Storage Media has released the first hybrid disc, which grants just that. By using a clever dual-layer process, …

Call of Duty World at War is the fifth installment of the ever popular Call of Duty series.
According to customer reviews some people thought it was not that much better than number 4 and some people
thought that it was loads superior. But what is it really?…

Call of Duty World at War. Finally I got my hands on it. Now what do I do? Well I pop it into my 360 and I wait.
I’m then introduced to the introduction video of the game. The introduction contained footage from the actual world …
