In Gametrailers.com’s latest interview with Fable 2 head master Peter Molyneux, we used our ninja-ears (yes, ninja-terming body parts is granted under the ninja-naming rulebook) and actually picked up on a Fable franchise fact. At around the 5:10 mark (video after the break), Molyneux speaks about his intent for the Fable franchise going forward saying that “we got plans for Fable three, four and five” and that “it’s actually a huge story arc.” With the average turnaround time to develop a Fable game being around the eight year mark, our kids’ kids will be playing Fable games for decades to come.

Put on your reading glasses and take a looksy at the new video embedded above showcasing a solid four minutes of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe fighting footage. The game actually looks rather intense, true to form and with the addition of free fall combat and close combat scenarios, it could be a winner. Take in all the video goodness and cheer for the Batman. He and his newfound wealth are all the rage right now, don’tcha know.

All along we were under that the soon to be patched Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix beta would be wrapping up towards the end of August. Maybe that was the initial plan, but now Capcom has had a change of heart by extending the beta window. September 5th is the new beta end date which we suspect the promised patch has something to do with. Talking of patch, if you haven’t already checked it out, the Capcom folks outlined all the updates and changes that’ll be implemented. Have a happy August.

“Who cares? I already saw the new dashboard at E3,” you state. Understandable, but there’s something magical about someone snagging the new dashboard early and uploading a shaky-cam video to YouTube for all the world to see. Even superior, we get to see a few areas of the new dash that weren’t on display at E3. That means you get the thrill of looking at the settings tab! One last thing: apparently it’s possible for anyone to get their hands on the update right now, though it does require a modded Xbox. We’re not suggesting anyone do that, of course.

Looking for a creepy, twisted and bloody disturbing trailer to watch before you head off into dreamland this evening? If so, we’ve just the trailer for you. Dead Space (which we think about to be an E3 standout) recently released and re-aired a new “Lullaby” trailer for almost mass consumption. Set to an eerie rendition of the children’s song “Twinkle, Twinkle Tiny Star”, this Dead Space trailer is violent and, for that, it is downright extraordinary. Too astonishing for the folks over at the ESRB, because they actually refused to rate it for American audiences. But to heck with the ESRB. Watch the latest Dead Space trailer embedded above and give us your impressions. We’re a bit enthusiastic about its decapitated potential, what say you?

The possibility was discussed months ago and now forceunleashed.org has learned that Lucas Arts’ own marketing manager Matt Shell has confirmed that a Star Wars: The Force Unleashed demo will be releasing to the Xbox Live Marketplace sometime next month. Interesting too is mention that the demo will feature a different experience than the game itself, with a remade Tie Fighter Construction Facility, extra force powers unlocked and a special conclusion to the level that isn’t seen in the retail version. Force Unleashed, good or bad? We’ll give you an answer next month.

Update: Just to clarify our remarks, we’re not sure of the size or scale of the bundled Lancer. Pocket size or life size, your guess is as good as ours. For that matter, Microsoft still hasn’t announced this third $130 GoW2 edition so we’ll try to be as calm as possible until specifics make their way out.
On top of the linked accomplishment news coming from Comic-Con, a new Gears of War 2 edition was unofficially announced by the panel members. A new Halo 3 Legendary edition priced $130 Gears of War 2 bundle that’s stated to include a miniature replica model of a Lancer. Something we should have expected seeing that we caught word from our own source that a mini Lancer would grace some sort of Gears of War 2 edition. Microsoft has yet to confirm this $130 Gears 2 edition, what other content will be included or when it’ll be available, but we expect news to trickle in soon. And just in case you were wondering, the answer is an emphatic “yes”. A certain blogger will be plopping down his $130 come November.

There were rumors floating around and now we can finally confirm the news. Splinter Cell: Conviction is delayed once again. Gasp!
In their just released first quarter fiscal report, Ubisoft made mention that Splinter Cell: Conviction is still alive (phew!) and that it has been delayed once again (aww, shucks) possibly into 2010 (wah?). According to Ubi, they’ve pushed back its release to “bolster the line-up for fiscal 2009-10″, meaning that the earliest we’ll see Sam Fisher and hear his new voice will be April 2009. We’ve made the executive decision to place Conviction alongside Alan Wake in the 360’s exclusive vaporware catalog.

Electronic Arts has announced a partnership with DC Comics to produce a six part comic series based on the upcoming run-em-up Mirror’s Edge. The comic will take place before the events of the game and chronicle the back-story of its main character, Faith, promising that “Frame by frame, page by page, [readers will] learn more about the events that shaped both her and the city.” The comic will be penned by Rhianna Pratchet — who is also the writer of the game itself — and drawn by artist Matthew Dow Smith. The first issue will be available at the San Diego Comic-Con this weekend. Details on when the comic will be more widely available are still up in the air.
